Its amazing how quickly google property search came and went. I think with augmented reality the integration of maps/ google places and google streetview will arrive at a place we can barely imagine today.

I think if google play this correctly then the website Right Move could be in a fair amount of trouble. If google build in the estate agent side of the website which allows them to use all the same resources and advertising as the compeition does then it could be extremely successful. With the added benefit of being able to see the street, neighbourhood and local surroundings, especially now with the 3D map view.

I think the interesting trend here is that small estate agents consistently outsource their internet presence & online marketing to the portals like Rightmove and Primelocation, who by agregating listings and specdialising in online promotion add value for agents.

Larger agents are however also investing in their own websites and online marketing plans and can in local instances rival the presence of the portals online.

Google are in effect acting as a free portal and offer another way for estate agents to promote their own wesite directly, reducing their dependance on property portals.

One property portal, www.thebigpropertylist.co.uk actually takes the google listings and displays them in a property portal format - offering a free property portal service to estate agents - with no need to pay subscription.
